About the Position: Serves as a staff level Equal Employment Specialist providing support for the U.S. Army Corps ofEngineers, Engineering and Support Center, Huntsville (HNC), with responsibility for providing technical guidance and direction to managers and employees.
Duties
Conduct studies and barrier analyses to determine if members of groups with low participation rates are being afforded equal opportunity for employment and advancement, preparing associated reports and briefings.
Assure that all requirements for Informal counseling and complaints processing are fulfilled in compliance with regulations.
Process formal complaints of discrimination to include mediations, investigations and hearings, and with full coordination with appropriate staff elements (e.g., legal counsel and personnel officials).
Assist with reviewing statistics on recruitment, disciplinary actions, removals, termination, etc., of individual offices/activities.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

Specialized experience:
GS-12One year at the GS-11 grade level in the Federal Service which includes: participating in development, implementing, and administering plans of action, providing guidance and assistance with data as needed on matters affecting the workforce, and evaluate and prepare reports on the effectiveness of the Equal Employment Opportunity program.
GS-11One year at least the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which includes: assisting in development and administration of plans of action; providing assistance with data as need on matters affecting the workforce; and preparing reports on the effectiveness of the Equal Employment Opportunity program.
