This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command. It is in the Professional Work Category at the Senior Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure and located in DISA Host & Compute Center Infrastructure & Line of Business Division, Network App Sustainment Branch.

Duties

Serves as principal technical authority and lead specialist with responsibility to ensure effective, economical, and advanced technical management of customer networking requirements for assigned systems and applications. Defines and executes the total breadth of network operations of an activity to ensure continuous availability and accessibility of the organization's LAN/WAN. Provides technical guidance, interpretation, and implementation oversight of applicable information security policies, processes, and practices to ensure continued operational availability and integrity of applications, systems, networks, and data. Develops network back-up and recovery procedures. Creates network maps; and troubleshoots network problems such as outages. Configures front-end processors, hubs, switches, and routers; monitors network performance; analyzes network traffic patterns; and installs network software fixes and upgrades.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
  • This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
  • Position is subject to recall or call back during off shift hours, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. and may be subject to varying work shifts for mission support requirement of 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, if required by upper management.
  • This is an Information Security (INFOSEC) position. In accordance with DoD 8570.1-M Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program, selectee must meet Information Assurance Certification standards.
  • This position requires Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance.
  • This is a drug test designated position.
  • In accordance with DoD 8140 policy series, the position is subjected to completing Foundational Qualifications in 9 months and completing Residential Qualification requirements in 12 months.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below. Qualifying Experience: To qualify at the GG-13, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service. For this position, qualifying experience is defined as experience with network design, implementing, and maintaining of multi-cloud architectures; analysis, operation, test, evaluation, and maintenance of a wide range of vendor technologies such as Juniper, Cisco, and Palo-Alto Routers/Switches/Firewalls, F5 Load Balancers, and DNS Bind and experience with multi Impact Levels (4/5/6) for multiple vendors including Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, Google, and Oracle. Candidates must describe how they meet the qualifying experience and/or selective placement factor(s) within the body of their resume. All qualifications must be met within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement.

Education

There is no substitution of education for the qualifying experienceat the GG-13 grade level.
