The primary purpose of this position is to plan, develop and administer a Wing Information Protection (IP) Program and its requirements and resources. Accountable for achieving program goals and objectives across multiple functions and disciplines and providing a focused, seamless, and supportive environment for protecting information in order to conduct effective air, space and cyberspace operations.

Duties

****Duties may vary depending on grade level**** Plans, organizes, and oversees the security activities of the installation. Accountable for the successful accomplishment of IP mission goals, objectives and the secure accomplishment of all other Wing mission goals and objectives. Serves as the risk assessment/risk management advisor to CC/CV for the converged IP disciplines exclusive only of physical security requirements. Performs supervisory personnel management responsibilities.

Qualifications

Appointments are on a time-limited basis, Temporary or Term. Initial Term appointments will not exceed 2 years with the ability to extend for two additional terms (not to exceed 2 years for each extension) NTE a total of 6 years. Spouses must accompany sponsor on PCS orders, be in the local commuting area, and currently reside with the sponsor. GS-09: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes Knowledge of a wide range of security disciplines, concepts, principles, practices and requirements applicable to the information protection program to include: Acquisition security, program protection, information security, industrial security, physical security, personnel security, operations security, foreign disclosure, and information assurance in order to perform the full range of complex security management responsibilities. OR EDUCATION: Successfully completed at least two (2) years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree in a major directly related to the position. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts with your application OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: combination of specialized experience and education as described above. GS-11: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-09, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes Knowledge of a wide range of security disciplines, concepts, principles, practices and requirements applicable to the information protection program to include: Acquisition security, program protection, information security, industrial security, physical security, personnel security, operations security, foreign disclosure, and information assurance in order to perform the full range of complex security management responsibilities. OR EDUCATION: Successfully completed at least three (3) years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. NOTE: You must submit copies of your official transcripts OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: I have a combination of specialized experience and education as described above. GS-12: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems. GS-13/GS-14/GS-15: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes Knowledge of a wide range of security disciplines, concepts, principles, practices and requirements applicable to the information protection program to include: Acquisition security, program protection, information security, industrial security, physical security, personnel security, operations security, foreign disclosure, and information assurance in order to perform the full range of complex security management responsibilities. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of a wide range of security disciplines, concepts, principles, practices and requirements applicable to the information protection program to include: Acquisition security, program protection, information security, industrial security, physical security, personnel security, operations security, foreign disclosure, and information assurance in order to perform the full range of complex security management responsibilities. 2. Knowledge of analytical methods for determining and evaluating vulnerability threats, intelligence data, and other specialized areas resulting in possible program compromise are required. Extensive knowledge of state-of-the art security equipment, devices, practices, and procedures with all IP security disciplines for planning and implementing protective methods and security procedures are required. 3. Knowledge of operational characteristics across the multiple-disciplinary construct of Information Protection, in order to apply unique management tools to develop an effective converged solution to systemic problematic issues affecting the Wing and serviced activities. 4. Knowledge of required security training concepts, programs, and procedures to develop security education programs, provide training, and assist in operating security. 5. Skill in planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating security programs to meet mission requirements and improve the security program. Additional Condition of Employment: Department of Defense Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) and Security Asset Protection Professional Certification (SAPPC) conferrals are required within 2 years of the established employee EOD or initial assignment date to this position in accordance with DoD 3305.13-M, DoD Security Accreditation and Certification. The listed certification requirements may not be deleted or modified without the written approval of the AF Security Functional Authority (SAF/AA) or their delegated security career field representative. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
