The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a training instructor.
Duties
Instructs students through assigned blocks of instruction at basic and/or advanced levels. Studies course objectives, technical orders, and other materials to prepare for assigned days of instruction.
Develops and/or revises lesson plans and training materials. Prepares daily lesson plans.
Monitors and evaluates student progress and performance. Administers and grades measurement devices, provides feedback to students, and maintains security.
Inputs necessary data into the Technical Training Management System (TTMS).
Maintains professional and technical expertise. Attends courses, conferences, and briefings to increase knowledge of training processes and procedures.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, GS-1712, series plus IOR.
BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT:

For Community College of the Air Force GS-1712 positions only: Section 9315 of 10 USC directs the commander of the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) to comply with standards established by the Secretary of Education to confer associate degrees upon enlisted members who have completed the requirements for the prescribed programs of study. To comply with this directive, all faculty members of the Community College of the Air Force must meet minimum educational requirements as prescribed by the accrediting body Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Colleges (SACS-COC), i.e. accreditation criteria.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of a wide range of instructional concepts, methods, and techniques required to develop and plan a variety of difficult and complex courses associated with teaching advanced technical systems or subject-matter areas. Knowledge of the methods, principles, practices, and programs related to curriculum development, instructional techniques, training resources, and test and measurement. Knowledge of directives, concepts, procedures, guidance, and policy as they relate to the area of responsibility. Knowledge of service-based occupations and the associated training/certification requirements for military and civilian personnel. Knowledge of standard analytical and evaluative techniques to analyze training requirements, plan for and develop training materials, evaluate training effectiveness, and solve problems relating to training issues. Knowledge of various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support training operations and produce a variety of documents such as letters, reports, spreadsheets, databases, and graphs.

EDUCATION: Master's or equivalent graduate degree OR 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR a LL.B. or J.D. Education must have major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.

COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of instruction.
2. Knowledge of training aids and devices used in training programs and maintenance and inspection of aircrew flyers helmets, oxygen masks, individual survival kits, anti-G garments, anti-exposure garments, Aircrew Chemical Defense equipment, Aircrew Night Vision Goggles, radios, aircraft recovery parachute systems, flotation equipment, personal parachutes, oxygen regulator and connector, multiple life rafts and ejection seat systems; and knowledge of sewing machine maintenance, usage and sewing applications/fabrication.
3. Knowledge of instructional design, materials development and computer applications for assigned courses.
4. Knowledge of tests and measurement principles, techniques, and objectives.
5. Skill in written and oral communication.
6. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of personnel. The ability to analyze problems and develop appropriate solutions.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
