This position is located in State or Area Office in USDA Rural Development. The incumbent serves as a loan specialist in the housing program for the State of Montana Single Family Housing Program. NOTE: THIS POSITION IS NOT REMOTE OR VIRTUAL. THE EMPLOYEE WILL BE EXPECTED TO REPORT IN PERSON TO THE ASSIGNED DUTY LOCATION.

Duties

Reviewing application processing and loan and grant servicing reviews for Single Family Housing (SFH). Prepares as applicable, conditional commitment, funding commitment and notification of loan closing and certificate of eligibility and approves or submits to approving official. Conducts field site visits to determine occupancy and conformance with Single Family Housing loan requirements for liquidation actions to resolve delinquency , inspect real estate owned (REO) property. Develops, implements and coordinates an outreach and marketing program with SFH programs. Attends outreach activities related to assigned housing programs.

  • Subject to one-year supervisory/managerial probationary period unless prior service is creditable. New USDA supervisors must successfully complete all components of the required training program before the end of their probationary period.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including specialized experience and/or education, as defined below. For the GS-9 Grade level: Applicants must possess one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level; or its non-Federal equivalent that demonstrates:-knowledge and understanding of mortgage loan making/servicing and credit principles and practices in order to assess the fundamental soundness of single family housing loans and to independently examine applications, supporting documents, and credit reports, and maintain servicing activities on small mortgage loans. Experience may have been gained in work equivalent to furnishing information to borrowers and applicants on loan programs, eligibility requirements, financial and credit requirements; analyzing information provided by loan applicants, determining eligibility for mortgage loans, and making loan recommendations to a senior employee; assisting senior level employees in initiating action to graduate borrowers who are eligible for other credit sources; and participating in providing credit counseling to all borrowers and debt adjustment services OR Masters or equivalent graduate degree in a related field, OR 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, or LLB or J.D., if related OR a combination of education as described and specialized experience.???????
