Duties
This position is located within the Emergency Management/Force Readiness staff at United States Coast Guard (USCG) Sectors and Marine Safety Units. The incumbent is responsible for the port recovery and resiliency implementation and enforcement of the Security and Accountability of Every Port (SAFE Port) Act of 2006, Executive Order 10173, as amended, the Ports and Waterways Safety Act of 1972, as amended, Maritime Transportation Security Act (MTSA) of 2002, and other Coast Guard maritime security and recovery enabling authorities at the Sector level. Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
- A one-year probationary may be required.
- This position requires a Secret clearance.
Qualifications
To Qualify for the GS-12 Grade Level: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the federal service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
Examples of specialized experience includes:
- Coordinating a variety of sensitive and complex tasks encompassing the entire spectrum of maritime and port security.- Leading or assisting in the evaluation of Facility Security Plans (FSP) and Alternative Security Plans (ASP).- Assisting/evaluating compliance with the Maritime Transportation Security Act (MTSA).- Knowledge of physical security, counterterrorism, exercise development, and plan writing as it relates to the maritime domain.- Risk-assessment review, development, and evaluation experience.- Planning and organizing security exercises.- Serving as spokesperson/representative at public meetings, industry meetings and briefings related to maritime and port security.- Developing maritime security plans or security plans.
