You will serve as an Auditor in the Comptroller Division Resource, Evaluation and Analysis Branch of MARINE CORPS BASE QUANTICO.
Duties
You will audit projects without precedent or of such a nature as to require original assessment and considerable judgement to develop an audit plan and devise detailed fact-finding techniques.
You will independently plan and conduct a variety of audit assignments.
You will review and evaluate appropriated and non-appropriated accounts to identify propriety of obligations, expenditures and liquidations.
You will perform survey work to identify potential operating/financial management problems.
You will conduct entrance conferences with management officials at the audit site.
You will audit projects may include financial audits that require extensive cost and price analysis techniques.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
- This is a Financial Management Level II certified position per the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) 2012, Section 1599d. You must achieve this level within prescribed timelines. Certification requirements are in DoD Instruction 1300.26.
Qualifications
In addition to basic education requirements listed in the "Education" section, you must meet one of the following requirements.
GS-9: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-07) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector planning, developing, and carrying out audit and audit follow-up to evaluate a variety of programs and accounting systems.
OR
successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree;
OR
successfully completed two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree;
OR
a combination of experience and graduate level education that equates to one year of experience.
GS-07: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-05) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector preparing audit reports identifying causes of deficiencies or problems and recommending corrective action.

successfully completed one full year of graduate level education;
OR
successfully completed a bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement;
OR
a combination of experience and graduate level education that equates to one year of experience.

Degree: accounting; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law. (The term "accounting" means "accounting and/or auditing" in this standard. Similarly, "accountant" should be interpreted, generally, as "accountant and/or auditor.")

Combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge. The applicant's background must also include one of the following:
- Twenty-four semester hours in accounting or auditing courses of appropriate type and quality. This can include up to 6 hours of business law;
- A certificate as Certified Public Accountant or a Certified Internal Auditor, obtained through written examination; or
- Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in accounting or auditing, e.g., 15 semester hours, but that does not fully satisfy the 24-semester-hour requirement of paragraph A, provided that (a) the applicant has successfully worked at the full-performance level in accounting, auditing, or a related field, e.g., valuation engineering or financial institution examining; (b) a panel of at least two higher level professional accountants or auditors has determined that the applicant has demonstrated a good knowledge of accounting and of related and underlying fields that equals in breadth, depth, currency, and level of advancement that which is normally associated with successful completion of the 4-year course of study described in paragraph A; and (c) except for literal nonconformance to the requirement of 24 semester hours in accounting, the applicant's education, training, and experience fully meet the specified requirements.
