You will serve as a SAFETY AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST in the CRANE SAFETY AND TRAINING DIVISION of NCC.

Duties

You will coordinate mishap and near miss investigations involving personnel and /or damage to government property. You will analyze and present mishap data to identify trends, target mishap prevention efforts, and establish required correction actions to reduce mishaps. You will investigates employee complaints of unsafe/unhealthful working conditions and recommends interim and permanent control measures necessary to reduce and/or eliminate the hazard(s). You will advise command personnel in the application of policies and procedures, control methods, and industry best practices. You will interpret and adapt safety directives received from higher authority for local conditions.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Coordinate and administer the Command's Safety Managements System. 2) Manage various mishap prevention programs such as, but not limited to fall protection, electrical, walking/working surface, hazardous materials, medical surveillance, hearing conservation, ionizing radiation, ergonomics, sight conservation, and material and weight handling. 3) Familiar with local and federal administrative directives and policies to determine impact on safe operations and provide recommendations for inclusion of safe practices and procedures. 4) Promotes safety through development, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive safety promotion program including safety training, semi-annual safety council meetings, safety articles, safety talks, safety campaigns, and safety initiatives. 5) Investigate employee complaints of unsafe/unhealthful working conditions. 6) Provides technical expertise in safety and occupational health programs and advises command personnel in application of policies and procedures, control methods, and industry best practices. 7) Interpret and adapt safety directives received from higher authority for local conditions. 8) Knowledgeable of all NAVFAC, Department of Defense (DOD), Department of the Navy (DoN), and Federal safety and occupational health laws, policies, and regulations. 9) Completed basic training requirements of the Safety & Occupational Health Specialist, qualified as fall protection competent person. 10) Practical knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Power Point), safety data information systems.
