You will serve as a SECRETARY (OA) in the N5/9 Department of NAVAL COMP TELCOM AREA WESTPAC.

Duties

You will receive telephone and personal callers for the Department head/Deputy Department head and subordinate personnel. You will maintain calendar appointments for the Department head/Deputy Department head and subordinate personnel. You will review correspondence prepared for the Department head/Deputy Department head’s signature to insure compliance with Navy Secretarial Manual and procedures. You will establish and maintain office files, correspondence, reports instructions and other information covering organizational activities. You will review office files and records, post changes, remove files of unnecessary materials and arrange for storage of records as required by department policy/procedures, DoD instructions and directives.

Requirements

  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Applicants must have directly applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies or knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience is typically in or directly relates to the work of the position to be filled. Qualifying experience would be demonstrated by: Utilizing Microsoft Office tools to prepare correspondence, reports, memoranda, etc Performing routine administrative and miscellaneous clerical work Reviewing correspondence for compliance with established office automation procedures Receiving incoming correspondence and preparing replies to routine correspondence such as transmittal letters with enclosures Gathering reference materials, establishing and maintaining an office filing system This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Your response to the typing skill question on the Occupational Questionnaire will be used in your qualification determination. This position is within the Work Category Technical and Admin Support at Work Level I, Series and Grade GG-05. Education

Four (4) years above high school meets the required experience, provided it demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience.
