THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is a WG-2604-12 ELECTRONICS MECHANIC (SMALL SHOP CHIEF) (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D2890000 in SPMD 4740 and are part of the MO TASMG Shop. APPOINTMENT FACTORS: This is an Indefinite/Permanent (may retain current tenure if on-board) Excepted Service position. This is a bargaining position. SEE NOTES UNDER CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT BELOW.

Duties

Plans and lays out work to be accomplished in the shop, which, is then completed, by the incumbent and lower graded mechanic(s). Determines approaches, methods and courses of action required to accomplish the mission of the shop in an effective and efficient manner. Independently determines appropriate maintenance procedures. Estimates time, equipment and material requirements. Devises and maintains plans and records. Possesses the knowledge and skills found at the journeyman level as well as those required for planning, accomplishing, and maintaining a functional shop maintenance program. Troubleshoots, inspects, installs, maintains, overhauls, repairs, modifies, adjusts, aligns, and programs complete operational systems consisting of numerous complex integral components and line replaceable units (LRUs) on or off system. Uses a variety of test equipment, to include automated test equipment and special purpose bench test equipment. Skilled in surveillance and troubleshooting techniques and can determine maintenance / repair procedures needed without benefit of technical supervisory guidance. Performs in-process, final inspection, and clear status symbols certifying work performed by others in shop. Implements safety regulatory requirements. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• If selected individual is in a Permanent status (Tenure 1 or 2) with the Missouri Army National Guard, that individual will retain their Permanent status.
• If selected individual is in an Indefinite status (Tenure 3) with the Missouri Army National Guard, that individual will retain their Indefinite status.
• Management has the right to convert this position to permanent status without re-advertising.
• Indefinite employment can be terminated with a 30 day notice.

Qualifications

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an Excepted Service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Selected candidate will be required to be in a compatible military assignment prior to effective date of placement. Selected candidate must be MOS qualified within 12 months from date of appointment. Maximum Military Grade - SFC (E-7) Enlisted - CMF 15, 88, 92, 94; MOS 94E or 94R Supervisor must verify that selected individual occupies a compatible military position. Title 32 National Guard employees will not be militarily senior to their full-time supervisor or wage leader (grade inversion). GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must possess experience, education or training which demonstrates knowledge of electrical or electronic theory; knowledge of common testing procedures; skill in the use of hand tools of the electronics trade; and skill in reading schematics. WG-12 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: possess 18 months of specialized experience in aviation electronics utilizing principles, basic functions and application of theory of electronic systems or equipment; experience in diagnosing problems and determining needed repairs of avionics/electronic equipment using complex test equipment such as deviation meters, complex special test panels, etc.; experience in making mechanical repairs that required the use of precision measuring and calibrating equipment.
