About the Position: This position is responsible for public information and education; internal information and relations; and media relations on behalf of the Winn Army Community Hospital, Tuttle Health Clinic and outline clinics .
Duties
Devises an information dissemination and education plan for eligible beneficiaries within the assigned catchment area with a focus on those assigned to Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield.
Serve as the public affairs advisor to the Commander and key members of the installation, advising of actual or public affairs issues having possible detrimental impact and recommending alternatives to the command.
Establish and maintain working relationships with local, regional, national and international medias and responds to media inquiries.
Develop and/or supervise the preparation of informational material used by communication media or by staff members in conjunction with speeches, orientations or briefings to various audiences.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position may involve duty hours other than during the standard administrative workweek to cover newsworthy events.
- Position requires incumbent employee to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
- This position is designated as Mission Essential (ME).

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes planning and directing a public affairs program or public affairs initiative, establishing and maintaining professional partnerships with media (television, radio etc), newspapers, magazines and various forms of social media; interviews subjects to obtain information for use in news releases, briefings, feature article, press releases and publications; identifies/coordinates information on highly sensitive issues directly to command staff through public affairs to ensure accuracy; coordinate with local media outlets to develop strategies for advertising and/or publicizing information for the medical treatment center. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
