The employee will serve as the Supervisory Medical Administration Specialist at the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center, in Chicago, IL. This position is organizationally aligned under Patient Administrative Service (PAS). The primary purpose of this position is to manage Ambulatory Care Scheduling Section (PAS) within the PAS Outpatient Scheduling Department (ACOD).
Duties

Duties include, but may not be limited to the following:
Conduct internal reviews of all outpatient scheduling support systems.
Manages staff including planning, advising, assigning work, supervision and various administrative and clerical matters involving the internal organizations/sections.
Analyzes and resolves a wide variety of problem areas concerning the effectiveness of involved administrative and professional staff activities.
Generates, compiles, evaluates/analyzes large amounts of information/data to put into meaningful format(s) for management review.
Assists in formulating plans and coordinating data validation and prepares statistical reports for presentation to management.
Prepares and presents written and oral quantitative/qualitative reports based upon conducted research, compilation and programs (ex: Joint Commission, Office of the Inspector General, etc.).
Participates in the selection process of new staff by reviewing job applications, interviewing applicants and ensuring employees receive full and proper training according to their assigned duties.
Develops appropriate performance requirements for employees, evaluates work performance, reviews recommendations for promotions, reassignments and separations, as well as facilitates employee training and development.
Develops and maintains positive working relationships with clinicians, Union officials' stakeholders and the community.
Manages, evaluates, trains and develops first line managerial staff and provides guidance and oversight to clerical staff and training managers.
Schedules medical appointments in multiple modalities and specialties.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

Qualifications
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service. This experience must have equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this position. Specialized experience includes: managing, evaluating, training and providing guidance and oversight; generating reports; resolving complex tasks and articulating changes as needed; preparing verbal and written responses to inquiries and complaints; formulating plans and coordinating data validation; and having experience in scheduling medical appointments in multiple modalities and specialties.

Physical Requirements: Physical exertion is limited to walking, climbing, stooping, bending, reaching and occasionally driving. Sitting and manual dexterity are required to keyboard for extended periods of time in the execution of administrative duties.
