About the Position: This position is located at Navy Hospital Pensacola, in the Radiology department.
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service
Duties
Enters, manipulates, and/or retrieves information and data from numerous electronic medical record databases.
Maintains and monitors patient appointment schedules and makes patient appointments manually and/or electronically.
Receives patients and visitors as the initial point of contact in person or telephonically.
Records and relays messages and/or redirect calls as necessary. Refers urgent messages and patient results for immediate actions.
Reschedules appointments when necessary.
Maintains all patients' records both electronic or paper according to regulation ensuring each entry contains proper patient and health care provider identification.
Responsible for the clerical duties inherent in the admission, care and discharge of patients and guests.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year specialized experience which includes experience in 1) Scheduling appointments and checking patients in/out of medical treatment facilities; 2) Performing a variety of receptionist, clerical, and/or recordkeeping duties; 3) Operating a computer, and printer to perform standardized office automation duties; such as faxing, creating CD's and mailing correspondence. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).
OR
Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
