Duties

You will receive emergency and non-emergency requests by telephone, mobile radio, mobile data computers or automatic alarms. You will screen incoming communications and prioritize emergency/non-emergency calls and situations. You will maintain logs, forms and status of security and fire personnel on duty and available using CAD system. You will be responsible for obtaining the necessary information from various monitoring sources or individuals and dispatching police, fire and medical emergency services assets for Department of Defense installations. You will serve as the key point of contact between field personnel, station management and other representatives of other public safety agencies during emergency response operations or assignments.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain current: Telecommunicator 1, CPR, APCO or IAED EMD, DoD HAZMAT Awareness, and communications training officer (CTO) certifications.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current CIC/NCIC/OPENFOX operator certification.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • As part of medical surveillance programs the incumbent will be required to take medical examinations to assess his/her medical qualifications for duty involving work with the high level of stress inherent in this job.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Operating electronic computer-based systems for emergency (Police, Fire, and/or EMS) dispatching management; 2) Operating multiple equipment/systems (i.e., Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system, alarm systems, dispatch recording devices, multi-channel radios) during emergency situations; and 3) Disseminating information from incoming callers during emergency situations.
