You will serve as a Wood Worker in the Operations Branch, Advance Traceability Control Division, Material Operations Department of NAVSUP FLT LOGISTICS CNTR SAN DIEGO.
Duties
You will work independently, make decisions, plan operations, show job responsibility and exercise initiative.
You will accept or reject items for conformance with requirements and to work productively in an inspection program.
You will teach procedures, principles and knowledge related to trade and craft practices.
You will use and maintain tools, instruments, and related equipment as appropriate to one or more lines of work.
You will do maintenance work on tools and equipment including preventive maintenance, grinding, and setting tools, etc.
You will facilitate production using judgment and analysis in areas such as determining work time, implementing procedures, interpreting reports and keeping records.
You will construct a variety of crates and containers for the storage and shipping of "F" condition repairable.
You will search, locate and select the appropriate material/tools to be utilized for construction of the container to pack such as wood, cardboard or selection of a prefabricated container.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Forklift Operator license.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This position requires occasional travel.
- This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.

Select the appropriate tools, machines, equipment, and work methodology in order to construct items having complex features or special requirements for sturdiness, serviceability, size, fit, and safety; 3. Utilize a knowledge of transportation/woodworking rules and regulations for preparation, packaging, and shipping requirements for all materials; 4. Determine or recommend the extent of repairs required or construction alternatives necessary to modify or rework containers. I work on my own initiative under general supervision subject to occasional inspection.
