Positions are TEMPORARY seasonal not to exceed 1039 hours work in a service year. The typical seasonal is May - November but can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. Anticipated Entry on Duty: May 2024

Duties

Duties of the Maintenance Worker Leader, WL-4749-8 Performs routine maintenance and repair of grounds, exterior structures, buildings, equipment and related utilities and leads at least three lower graded employees in the execution of that work. Receives and verifies intent and direction from supervisors for project related work and relays that information to the employees and assigns daily tasks to individuals of the work group. Checks work of lower graded employees and assists in corrections of the work when necessary. Ensures necessary plans, materials, supplies, equipment, and tools are available when needed. Recommends operation needs per work requests to the supervisor. Performs intermediate carpentry repairs using measures and hand tools on such tasks as framing, replacing broken planks on picnic tables; broken windows; adjustments or replaces hinges, latches and catches. Performs painting using brush and roller according to specific instructions on projects where appearances are critical such as building exteriors and interiors. Performs minor plumbing repairs such as tightening or replacing in-kind fittings and fixtures which do not require custom fitting or solder joints; replaces faucet washers; unplugs drains using a plunger; replaces liquid petroleum gas bottles. Performs routine maintenance on picnic and campground sites and trails using hand tools to re-grade and reset barriers to restore areas to original appearances. Operates a medium duty truck to pick up supplies and to transport materials to and from work sites while assisting on project work. Operates a forklift to load and unload supplies and light equipment not requiring special rigging.

To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors: Ability to Lead or Supervise (SCREEN OUT) Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc. Technical Practices (theoretical precise, artistic) Use of Measuring Instruments Ability to Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprints reading) Knowledge of materials Screen-out Element: "Ability to Lead or Supervise. For this position, work is defined as implementing instructions from supervisor by assigning daily tasks to individuals; checks work and reviews work in progress and informs supervisor on needs required to complete work and meet deadlines; answers workers questions and obtained needed information; cares for common power and hand tools as well as work with the materials associated with the trades (masonry, roofing, carpentry, painting); utilizes knowledge and skills in several trades and crafts(masonry, roofing, carpentry, painting); works from sketches, work orders, basic blueprints, and instructions, which are complete in terms of type of job required and materials and methods to be used; operates multi-lever controlled equipment such as front-end loaders, skid steers, and excavators to manipulate and load materials; operates 1 and 2 Ton Trucks & Dump Trucks equipped with and without trailered loads. These duties are completed independently as an expert with a high degree of independence.
