Positions are TEMPORARY seasonal not to exceed 1039 hours work in a service year.

Duties
SUMMARIZED MAJOR DUTIES:
Assist journey-level, or other higher graded maintenance workers in the maintenance, repair, and construction of buildings and facilities in at least two areas such as: carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, and equipment.
Constructs, maintains and repairs historic buildings and structures.
Prepares and paints interiors and exteriors of historic buildings.
Performs minor plumbing tasks such as tightening or replacing fixtures and fittings, which do not require custom fittings or soldering.
Performs electrical repairs on buildings, such as replacing outlets, switches, and fixtures.
Operates equipment to load and unload materials, earth work, and other general maintenance.
Removing and replacing fence posts, cutting and fastening new fence boards/pickets and rails.
Tilling soil and planting grass seed; removing shrubs and small tress and planting new ones.
Assisting with recurring cleaning of public and staff spaces
PARK SEASONAL PERIOD AND SALARY:
Saratoga National Historical Park (SARA): Pay Scale: $21.53 - 25.11. The typical work season is May to November but can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. Anticipated Entry on Duty: May 2024.
Martin Van Buren NHS (MAVA): Pay Scale: $21.53 - 25.11. The typical work season is May to November but can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. Anticipated Entry on Duty: May 2024.
Weir Farms National Historic Site (WEFA): Pay Scale: 23.04 - 26.85. The typical work season is May to November but can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. Anticipated Entry on Duty: May2024.
Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors:
Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision (SCREEN OUT)
Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc
Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)
Use of Measuring Instruments
Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprinting reading)
Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment
Knowledge of Materials
Screen-out Element: "Ability to do the work of Maintenance Mechanic without more than normal supervision." For this position, work is defined as complex knowledge of custodial and maintenance work as well as the materials and equipment associated with cleaning buildings, building maintenance and ground maintenance. Preforming work in carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, and other trades associated with this position.
