This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, United States Coast Guard, Aviation Logistics Center, Engineering Services Division, Configuration Management Branch in Elizabeth City, NC.
Duties
As an Information Technology Specialist (INFOSEC) in the Engineering Services Division, Configuration Management Branch, the role of this position is to serve as the Aircraft (Fixed or Rotary Wing) Information System Security Officer performing comprehensive security assessments using the Risk Management Framework (RMF) and conducting independent verification and validation of the system authorization and accreditation. In addition, the incumbent provides documentation, assessment of Coast Guard IT and aviation Platform Information Technology (PIT) governed by the cybersecurity program. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include:
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship and U.S. residency is required.
- Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
- May be required to serve a one year probationary period.
- This position requires a Secret clearance.
- The position requires a valid state driver's license.
Qualifications
To qualify for the GS-13 level, applicants must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-12 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience related to this position include:
Experience in planning, analyzing, documenting, and reporting activities associated with the system security accreditation and authorization process;
Experienced knowledge of systems analysis techniques;
Experience in Customer Support activities and functions, including Help Desk Processes, Customer Support Techniques and Methods.
Skill in applying agency policies, business standards, and knowledge of technical data toevaluate alternative approaches to problem solutions.
In addition to the required specialized experience, applicants must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below:

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.
