This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Coast Guard, Deputy Commandant for Operations, Assistant Commandant for Prevention Policy, Traveling Inspector Staff, Liquefied Gas Carrier National Center of Expertise (LGCNCOE), based in Galveston, TX.
Duties
This position serves as the Center’s Liquefied Gas Carrier Senior Marine Inspector (SMI), Coast Guard instructor, training manager and as the Center’s primary liaison at the International Maritime Organization (IMO) on matters related to the International Gas Carrier (IGC) Code on behalf of the United States Coast Guard and as the primary liaison to The Society of International Gas Tanker and Terminal Operators (SIGTTO). Requirements
- Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Time-in-grade requirements must be met by closing date.
- A one year probationary period maybe required.
- State Driver's License Required.
- Passing an initial health assessment physical within 30 days of onboarding.
Qualifications
To qualify for the GS-14: Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lowest grade level (GS-13 level) in the federal service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Specialized experience must include:
Conducting marine regulatory reviews, inspections, surveys, or incident investigations on liquefied gas carriers; AND
Deliver course instruction on both a vocational or academic level; OR
Provide on-the-job training to others in the performance of examinations and inspections for liquefied and compressed gas carriers;
A Quality Ranking Factor (QFR) is job related skills, knowledge, or abilities that are expected to significantly enhance performance—but are not essential and applicants will not be ranked ineligible for not having a (or the) quality ranking factor(s).
Quality Factor: Verification of a Foreign Gas Carrier Examiner (FGCE) Qualification is preferred. (Submission of your Employee Summary Sheet is sufficient.)
