This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the Department of Defense (DOD) Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
Duties
Serve as the installation's professional Landscape Architect and resident technical specialist for work required in the planning and design of land areas.
Assignment involves performance of office and field landscape architectural duties associated with in-house design of new construction.
Conducts studies concerning ways to preserve or improve landscaped areas belonging to the installation.
Promote the installation's landscape management plan through such activities as presentations to local interest groups, articles for inclusion in local publications, and special office/resident planting projects.
Required to drive one or more types of vehicles, such as sedans, jeeps or station wagons which typically have a gross vehicle weight of 10,000 pounds or less to drive from various sites on the installation to perform field visits.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Requirement for Landscape Architect:
A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in landscape architecture or landscape design.
OR
B. Combination of Education and Experience: For each year short of graduation, the applicant must have had one year of experience under professional leadership and guidance of such character and diversity as to be a satisfactory substitute for the required education. This experience must have included original landscape design.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service which includes: Providing clarification and advice to contracting officials, contractors, inspection and quality assurance personnel; Reviewing designs and specifications developed by contract Architect-Engineer (AE) firms, Corp of Engineers, AAFES, MWR, DeCA, and project developers within the organization for consistency with landscape architecture requirements and landscaping construction and maintenance requirements for land developments and plantings; existing and potential plant diseases, insect and animal damage, climate, soil and drainage problems
Education
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
