Duties
The VA Midwest Health Care Network advocates for a Whole Health System of care in each of the Medical Centers. This is an approach to healthcare that empowers and equips people to take charge of their health and well-being and live their lives to the fullest. Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.
Work Schedule: The tour of duty for this position is typically day shift. Additional information may be provided during the interview process.
EDRP: Authorized .This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Performs physical assessments, engages in therapeutic problem solving, counseling, consultation, and provides independent case management. Position may entail other duties as assigned.
Orders, interprets, and follows up on diagnostic tests
Initiates consults to other disciplines
Collaborates with physicians and other members of health care team
Prescribes medications and other therapies within the guidelines of the specific practice agreement
Teaches patient, family, other staff and students
Triages and applies a collaborative team approach in identifying, analyzing, and resolving patient care problems.
BLS certification is required for this position and can be obtained upon hire
Facilitation of Homecare referrals and recommendations to support ongoing veteran needs
Demonstrates professional communication and conduct
Recognizes and supports Suicide Prevention initiatives
Works collaboratively with all levels of health care professional and support staff to facilitate positive patient care outcomes.
Compliance with various Isolation Precautions and Infection Control Guidelines
Patient and caregiver education and support.
Participates in High Reliability Organization (HRO)
Promotes evidence-based best practices and nurse sensitive indicators (including but not limited to Falls Prevention, Whole Health, PACT, etc)

Physician Assistant Basic Requirements
Master's degree in any discipline or a bachelor's degree in any discipline with one year of experience as a Physician Assistant ~AND~
Successfully passed the PA National Certifying Exam (PANCE) (or are you in the process to taking the exam) ~AND~
Currently hold, or will hold, a full and unrestricted license to practice in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or in the District of Columbia.
Preferred Experience: 2-3 years of recent experience. Preferred experience in Primary Care-Internal or Family Medicine
