This position is located in the Geomatics (TERG-Remote Sensing Group) organization within Real Property Services (TER), Engineering & Technical Services (TE), Transmission Services (T).
A successful candidate in the Geographer (Remote Sensing) position will serve as an expert in the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), in addition to a knowledge of Remote Sensing technologies and principles.

- This position does not support remote work. You will be required to report physically to the official reporting worksite as specified by the supervisor, but no less than 2 days per pay period
- Selectee will be required to complete the Office of Government Ethics Standard of Confidential Financial Disclosure Report (OFGE450e) within 30 days of employment and annually.
- May be required to serve as Contracting Officers Representative for BPA grants and agreements; this duty includes additional training and certification.
Qualifications
BASIC REQUIREMENT:
1. Degree: geography; or related physical or social science such as geology, meteorology, economics, statistics, sociology, anthropology, political science, history, cartography, computer science, urban studies, or planning that included at least 24 semester hours in geography or related fields.
OR
2. Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major in geography, or a related field that included at least 24 semester hours in geography or related fields, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) in the Federal service.
Specialized experience for this position is defined as: Performing work utilizing Geographic Information Systems (GIS), that requires knowledge of Remote Sensing technologies and principles to 1) Support GIS projects for an organization; 2) Maintain and troubleshoot databases to perform modeling, spatial analysis, or data management related to GIS.
"Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
