About the Position: This position is located with the 61st Medical Squadron at the Los Angeles Air Force Base in California.
Non-Federal work experience may be creditable for leave purposes.
Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service.
Duties
Develop long range, multi-year work plans for operation, maintenance, and repair of Medical Facilities.
Prepare or submit data and reports on both the technical and administrative aspects of the facilities program for management.
Direct planning, review and recommend approval/disapproval of repair projects and funding for medical facilities.
Oversee facility management resources including personnel, service contracts, financial programs, space utilization, and information resources.
Coordinate all work requirements and complex projects to maintain patient care buildings.
Implement and evaluate programs to manage medical safety risks, fire safety risks, facility response to emergencies, and to manage risks associated with physical security, hazardous materials, and waste.
Attend staff meetings, working groups, and coordinates with various personnel to accomplish facility work.
Oversee highly technical maintenance services often performed by contract to ensure performance of major and highly complex systems such as elevators, escalators, and emergency power systems.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A Personnel Security Investigation is required.

- Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
- This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
- Must possess and maintain a valid stateside driver's license.

In order to qualify, you must meet the qualification requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes managing a maintenance program for office or apartment building complexes, hospitals, recreation facilities, military, or other special-purpose installations; assisting with the budget planning for facility work such as estimating material and labor costs for a variety of construction or maintenance projects; and inputting or tracking work order requests in an automated system. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as study in engineering, industrial arts, property management, or business administration. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
