Duties
Plan and initiate a comprehensive evaluation system to review and analyze the costs processes and systems to ensure that the Section operates efficiently and effectively and implements identified needed changes.
Develop, plan and implement the Food Service Section's educational and training programs.
Develop reports to provide the Chief of the Department with data on the status, progress, and contributions of the area.
Determine kitchen equipment requirements, and specifications and coordinating purchasing of such equipment.
Maintain active coordination with Departments and Offices within the CC to identify and resolve issues related to the program and to plan projects or activities to continuously improve Section operations and services and patient care and research.
Review NIH and CC guidance, policies, regulations, and standards to determine their impact on the program and making adjustments accordingly.

- This position requires active, current registration as a Registered Dietitian (RD) with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Qualifications
Basic Education Requirement: Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree in the fields of dietetics, food, nutrition, food service management, institution management, or related science. The educational program must have been accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics) (ACEND), or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. For dietitian positions, the curriculum must have been in accordance with the qualifying requirements established by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) (formerly American Dietetic Association (ADA) prior to January 1, 2012) in effect at the time of graduation; or Competition of a coordinated undergraduate program, internship, or other clinical component approved by AND (formerly ADA) for dietitians or nutrition; or Professional registration as a Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN).
In addition, in order to qualify for the Dietitian (Food Service), GS-0630-13 you must have 1 year of experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of tasks: Planning, scheduling, and coordinating the functions of a food services program; providing advice and oversight on food service and nutrition related technical and administrative issues; ensuring compliance with nutrition and food service program hospital accreditation standards; and serving as a Contracting Officer Technical Representative (COTR) for a Food Services program.
