You will serve as a Security Guard in the Commander Navy Installations Command of MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP BLAZ.

Duties

You will protect Marine Corps Base Camp Blaz properties and enforce a wide variety of Department of Defense, DON, Commander Navy Installations Command and local regulations. You will be a member of the entry control/vehicle inspection team that conducts private and commercial vehicle inspections. You will perform a variety of protective duties and enforce pertinent administrative rules and regulations governing access control and breaches in physical security. You will conduct commercial, private, and government vehicle screening and passenger identity checks. You will direct vehicles and pedestrian traffic during emergencies and normal rush hour traffic to ensure that the entry control process is run in accordance of established procedures. You will detain persons found unauthorized to enter the installation. You will prepare reports on any and all discrepancies from correcting a security deficiency to detaining a person or persons. You will use various security equipment to maintain communications and the safety of the installation. You will monitor and maintain alarm systems, closed circuit television systems, and radio networks.

  • This is an overseas position. You will be subject to and must be able to satisfy the overseas requirements of the 26Jul12 DODI 1400.25 V1230: http://www.esd.whs.mil/Portals/54/Documents/DD/issuances/140025/140025v1230.pdf
  • This position may require travel to places within and outside the contiguous United States which could include remote or isolated sites. You may be required to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • If eligible for permanent change of station, the appointee will be required to sign a transportation agreement to establish a Government time in service requirement of 12 months.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
  • May be required to obtain a VISA dependent on the overseas country's laws/regulations.
  • You will be required to sign the Statement of Understanding for Overseas Employment acknowledging receipt and understanding of the statement of living and working conditions for this location.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a vehicle Guam Driver's License.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-04) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing most or all of the following duties: 1) Protecting property and critical national strategic war fighting assets; 2) Conducting commercial, private, and government vehicle screening and passenger identity checks; 3) Making sound decisions regarding vehicle entry control issues based on experience and good judgement; 4) Performing a variety of protective duties, and enforcing pertinent administrative rules and regulations governing access control and breaches in physical security; and 5) Preparing reports of incidents in writing and orally.
