This position is at the full performance level located in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), at the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System, in Financial Management Service Office of Accounting. The Teller is responsible for accurate and timely transactions and associated functions in Financial Management/Accounting Section.

Duties

Duties include, but are not limited to: Responsible for the daily operation of the Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System cash management functions. Ensure the fulfillment of regulatory requirements associated with depository functions. Prepare replenishment vouchers daily for submission to Fiscal Accounting for reimbursement. Prepare daily deposit for the previous day's collection and forwards to the designated depositary for credit to the Treasury. Responsible for the maintenance of chronological records of the cash activities and the logbook for all Replenishment processed on OF 1129 and funds received as well as funds due. Manage disbursement of insurance remittances by means of copies to the appropriate MCCF staff and maintains follow up to ensure timely posting of funds coming into the facility. Receive and disburses a wide variety of documents and maintains all records involved in the receipt and disbursement of cash. Examine documents received for payment to determine whether they are prepared and submitted in accordance with applicable instructions. Balance accounts daily to assure that the disbursing fund and collections are accounted for properly. Responsible for the accountability and inventory of third party drafts by maintaining a log showing receipt, distribution, and issuance of all drafts. Ensure that the checks are received and distributed in accordance with prevailing regulations. Responsible for maintaining and advancing their level of knowledge and keeping abreast of any and all changes that relate to his/her position as Agent Cashier. To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 12/22/2023. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-6 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05 level. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. GS-06 You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience: (In addition to meeting Time and Grade) Applicants must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-5) in Federal service that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this Teller position. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: performing cash processing functions involving receipts, disbursements, examinations, and deposits; records transactions, reconciles cash, reviews vouchers; receives and/or disburses cash in accordance with corresponding laws, rules, and regulations; exercises direct support of agency cash/check/electronic funds transfer processing functions involving the receipt, disbursement, examination, deposit, custody of funds and entering transactions into financial accounting system; using policies and procedures associated with cash processing and management operations, using accounting, budget, and policies related to financial management such as that in a health care organization (must be in resume). Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: Position is basically of a sedentary nature with tasks performed at a desk or teller window. However, may require prolong standing at a customer Teller's window in order to perform the disbursing and receipting of cash. There is occasional lifting of books, manuals, files, bending, and some lifting when handling mail, or stooping in the performance of duties.
