The DOJ OIG is seeking an experienced, highly motivated individual to lead the Evaluation and Inspections Division (E&I) located in Washington, DC. The Assistant Inspector General for the E&I Division is a member of the senior staff of the DOJ OIG. The ideal candidate has significant leadership experience in an oversight function. Duties
The Assistant Inspector General (AIG) for E&I is responsible for developing, directing, and administering a broad program of evaluations and inspections of internal and external activities of the Department of Justice (DOJ). Some such reviews are undertaken in response to requests by DOJ leadership or congressional oversight committees. The work results in recommendations to DOJ leadership to improve operations. In this capacity, the AIG:
Provides executive leadership of the division, supervising subordinate managers and a diverse, engaged workforce of program analysts and inspectors who conduct evaluations and inspections of sensitive DOJ programs that have an impact on national programs and policies.
Participates, as a member of the Inspector General's senior staff, in discussions and contributes to decisions about agency policy generally, as well as serving as the OIG's expert on all matters related to program evaluation and inspection activities.
Represents the DOJ OIG in coordinating evaluation and inspection matters with internal and external organizations; and interacts with and works effectively with counterparts at DOJ components, the Council of Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency, and other federal OIGs and agencies.
Ensures ongoing evaluations and inspections are progressing in accordance with their objectives, toward timely resolution, and production of a concise report describing the DOJ OIG's findings and conclusions.
Ensures timely reports of evaluation and inspections that are thoroughly completed and well-supported; properly, clearly and objectively report OIG findings; and include appropriate recommendations to DOJ and relevant components. Interacts with DOJ component leadership to ensure that OIG recommendations receive attention and implementation.
Ensures that the varied work products of the division are tailored to the assignment and subject matter, and that they comport with generally accepted quality standards for inspections and evaluations, including documentation requirements.
The AIG should possess superior interpersonal and communication skills to ensure effective leadership of the division's diverse staff and productivity of the division. The AIG should have outstanding writing and editing abilities to ensure high quality, accurate evaluation and inspection reviews and reports that reflect appropriate substance.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Obtain/maintain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance.
- Incumbent will be subject to initial and random drug testing.
- Annual financial disclosure statement, SF-278 required.
- One-year SES probationary period, unless excepted by regulation.
- Selective Service Registration is required, as applicable.

Qualifications
This position is in the Senior Executive Service (SES). As a basic requirement for entry into the SES, applicants must provide evidence of progressively responsible leadership experience indicative of senior executive-level management capability. Typically, experience of this nature will have been gained at or above the GS-15 grade level in the federal service or its equivalent in the private sector.
To meet the minimum qualification requirements for this position, applicants must demonstrate in resume and narrative statements possession of the Executive Core Qualifications (ECQs) and the Mandatory Technical Qualifications (MTQs) listed below. Mandatory Technical Qualification(s) - Mandatory
Substantial senior level leadership experience in an oversight function supervising subordinate managers and a diverse workforce conducting programmatic reviews, evaluations, inspections, audits, or reviews of an organization's internal and external activities. Demonstrated skills in reviewing work products, assessing organizational efficiency and effectiveness, and implementing procedures to improve organizational performance.
Advanced interpersonal skills with demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to communication with a diverse workforce, and the ability to represent the organization in formal and informal interactions with high-level internal and external stakeholders. Demonstrated executive level oral and written communication skills.
