THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION THAT REQUIRES MILITARY MEMBERSHIP.
This National Guard position is for a AIRCRAFT SURVIVAL FLIGHT EQUIPMENT REPAIRER, Position Description Number PDD1729000 and is part of the Mississippi National Guard.
Duties
As a AIRCRAFT SURVIVAL FLIGHT EQUIPMENT REPAIRER, WG-4818-11, you will serve as a Small Shop Chief (SSC) with the responsibility for the overall shop. The position oversees and directs the work of one or more employees who perform work in the Aircraft Survival Flight Equipment Repairer, WG-4818-10 occupation who are assigned to the shop. The incumbent performs the full range of non-supervisory journey level work of the shop
1) Plans and lays out work to be accomplished in the shop which is then completed by the incumbent and lower graded worker(s).
2) Utilizes knowledge and skills of the journey level as well as those required to plan, accomplish, and maintain a functional shop maintenance program.
3) Independently determines appropriate maintenance procedures such as how and when the work should be accomplished. Estimates manpower, equipment, and material requirements.
4) Devises and maintains all program plans and records, performs surveillance and troubleshooting, and determines maintenance/repair procedures to be utilized.
5) Plans, organizes, and directs shop maintenance programs/procedures under general supervision.
6) Determines approaches, methods, and courses of action required to accomplish the mission of the shop in an effective and efficient manner.
7) Provides recommendations and input to the supervisor concerning personnel actions such as performance appraisals, awards, position description changes, disciplinary actions, leave, etc.
8) Performs the full range of journey level work of the shop.
9) Implements safety regulatory requirements. Ensures that other workers in the shop wear appropriate safety equipment and follow pertinent safety precautions.
10) Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
MILITARY MEMBERS WITH BONUSES: Upon acceptance of a military technician position military members who are currently receiving a military Reenlistment/Extension Bonus (REB) or GI Bill-SR Kicker may lose incentive eligibility and may be subject to termination or suspension of incentive (includes indefinite and temporary technicians on assignment for more than 180 days in any continuous 12-month period).
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates the applicants knowledge of materials and equipment used in the line of work (helmets, torso harness assemblies, parachutes, survival equipment). Ability to understand written instructions and to use reference materials and manuals.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess in detail 18 months experience or training which has demonstrated knowledge of aviation life support equipment. Experience reading and interpreting military manuals. Experience in supply procedures and property accountability. Experience collecting information and presenting it to various sized groups. Experience in planning a functional shop maintenance program is essential. In addition to the journeyman level knowledge, experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, organize, and lead the work of others in fields directly related the repair function of this occupational series. Must have the ability to perform administrative functions; to read and interpret a variety of technical publications used in the repair of supported equipment. The ability to provide guidance to others in work related directly to this occupational series.
