Sales Store Checkers serve in a commissary store at a Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) facility. The primary purpose of this position is to operate a cash register scanning system to check out items and to receive payment for purchases made in a commissary store.
Duties
Operating a cash register scanning system, which records unit prices in proper amounts and accounts.
Totaling purchases, collects, validates, and processes payments including cash, checks, and debit/ credit card transactions.
Inputting item codes and/or prices when items do not properly scan.
Managing the self check-out registers assisting customers in the correct processing of their purchases.
Managing change machines ensuring the proper amounts of cash and coins are available.
Changing register tape, clear routine equipment, and scanning jams on registers.

Requirements

Qualifications
You must meet the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) qualifications for series 2091 and additional requirements by the announcement closing date. Your resume (and/or transcript if necessary) must clearly show that you have the qualifications described below. You can use experience, education, or a combination of the two to qualify.
(1) Six (6) months of general experience, which is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates the ability to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of this position,
OR
(2) One (1) full year of education above high school at an accredited business, secretarial, technical school, junior college, college or university,
OR
(3) A combination of experience and education that equals 100% of the qualification requirements. To compute the percentage of experience and education you have that meets the qualification requirements, divide your total months of experience by 6. Then divide your semester hours by 30. The sum of the two percentages must equal 100%.
You will receive credit for all relevant qualifying experience (paid and unpaid), including volunteer work done through National Service program (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
Physical requirements: (1) Stand for prolonged periods. (2) Lift, push, pull, carry, and handle items weighing up to 25 pounds independently and without assistance.
