Organizational Location: Department of Health & Health Human Services (HHS), Indian Health Service (IHS), Southwest Region, Phoenix Area, Primary Care/Nursing Division, Colorado River Service Unit, Chemehuevi Health Clinic, located in Havasu Lake, CA. Position is supervised under the Supervisory Clinical Nurse.

Duties

Major Duties: Screens telephone calls and assist customers with a variety of concerns to obtain medical needs, make or change appointments or direct to the appropriate health resource. Reviews Resources Patient Management System ( RPMS) for benefit eligibility for patient(s) seeking health care. Completes a variety of reports, memos and orders and receives supplies for the division. Utilizes the automated timekeeping systems ( ITAS) Integrated Time and Attendance System and maintains time and attendance records for the nursing division. Initiates and maintains various sensitive information; employee information, travel requisitions, and clinical data. Uses various clinical applications to collect, manage, and develop reports of findings.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. MINIMUM QUALIFICATION: GS-0679-05: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Knowledge of medical, technical, or specialized terms when communicating with patients and professional staff to explain regulations and procedures; Use of automated patient registration systems to update patient records. OR 4 years of education above the high school level OR Combination of education and experience that when combined meet the minimum qualifications for this position. GS-0679-06: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Interview and update pertinent patient information, make appointment's; Records, processes, transmit an distributes vendor and patient correspondences. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
