This position is located at Schofield Barracks Arts and Crafts Center, in Schofield Barracks, HI (Island of Oahu). Incumbent will be assisting customers in ceramic area with issuing equipment, paint supplies and instructing customers on how to paint their pieces, as well as assisting with special events. Duties

Assists patrons in use of the facility by checking out equipment, providing safety instruction, demonstrating new equipment, teaching classes, etc. Duties include making batches of slip in mixers following the recipe, pouring slip into molds and being familiar with how the density of the mix and size of the molds determine length of time before pouring the slip. Provides guidance on different types of acrylic and paint concepts. Issues equipment, supplies and paints to customers for their projects. Ensures patrons' work area is clean and prepped. Cleans and sanitizes work area upon completion of projects. Sweeps and mops ceramic work area. Cleans brushes and bowls. Assist with special events duties such as transporting items, setting up areas, creating a spray booth and other necessary tasks.

Requirements

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: 1. Work experience which involved dealing with the general public. **Resume MUST clearly reflect the knowledge and experience listed under the minimum qualifications criteria above.** Highly Preferred Qualifications: 1. Minimum of ten (10) years' experience in pouring and back pouring ceramic slips and knowing when to remove pieces from molds. 2. Experience with assembling ceramic pieces, such as mending and connecting pieces to create large bisque ceramics. 3. Knowledge and experience in cleaning excess slip in and out of molds to prevent deterioration, as well as cleaning bisque pieces for resale. 4.
