Notice of Result letters will not be sent to applicants who respond to this flyer. You will serve as a WELDER in the Installation Facilities Division of Marine Corp Base.

Duties

You will weld, in all positions, on most types of metal and alloys in various sizes and shapes including pipes, structural forms, plate, and sheet metal. You will work with light, heavy gauge and hardened metals and will weld various types of weldable items assigned using various positions. You will use electric, acetylene and/or inert gas shielded welding processes. You will use templates, jigs, blueprints and other guides to repair, modify or fabricate metal items for all types of equipment. You will use measuring devices (e.g., scales, tape measures, rulers, calipers, alignment indicators, micrometers) to perform weld measurements. You will distinguish the properties of metals, welding techniques, and methods applicable to aluminum, steel, and alloys. You will follow safety procedures and use proper protective equipment to complete welding tasks in vertical or overhead positions.

• You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination and a physical exam annually.
• This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
• You will be required to obtain and maintain various Welding Certifications including GMAW-Mig 70s (2G-3G), GMAW-Mig 100s (2G-3G), GMAW-Mig Aluminum (2G-3G), GMAW-TIG 70S (2G-3G), GMAW-TIG 100S (2G-3G), GMAW-TIG Aluminum (2G-3G).
• You will be required to push, pull, lift and carry loads weighing up to 50 pounds.
• This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION. Tasks included: Performing precision welding of piping, structures, and vessels which must withstand extreme heat and pressure.
