The primary purpose of this position is to responsible for the development, qualification, certification, production, installation, fielding, and sustainment of the CERP required Electrical Systems.

Duties

Incumbent shall be responsible for frequent communication and interaction with all USAF stakeholders and aircraft, engine, and component Original Equipment Manufacturers. Responsible for the acquisition and integration of a modern commercial engine with the B-52 Strategic Heavy Bomber. The CERP modification shall develop and integrate a new 8 generator power generation, transmission, and distribution system to the legacy B-52 electrical system. Ensures verification and compliance with air vehicle specifications and Statement of Work requirements. Responsible for the development, qualification, certification, production, installation, fielding, and sustainment of the CERP required Electrical Systems including New Generators, New Bus Controller, Update Electrical Load Analysis, Aircraft Electrical Wiring Interconnect System updates, Electrical distribution system, Electrical system integration.

  • Work may occasionally require travel away from normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
  • The incumbent of this position may be required to work overtime or an irregular work shift.
  • This position may be designated as an acquisition position covered by the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP).
  • The employee must meet, or be capable of meeting, the Defense Acquisition Work Improvement Act (DAWIA) requirements applicable to the duties of this position.
  • The employee is expected to meeting Continuing Acquisition Education requirements IAW DoDI 5000.66 paragraph E2.2.8.
  • The candidate must possess a Bachelor's degree or higher Degree in Aerospace, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering from an institution with an ABET accredited engineering program.
  • Experience in Aircraft Electrical Systems, Aircraft Electrical Loads Analysis, and Airworthiness and MIL-HDBK-516.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of professional electronics engineering concepts, principles, practices, standards, methods, techniques, materials, and equipment to effectively apply advanced engineering theories, principles, and concepts to project development, execution, and advisory services. Knowledge of development testing and evaluation sufficient to apply experimental theories and new applications to issues and provide technical advice and direction in support of weapon systems, subsystems, and/or support equipment. Knowledge of integrated air-vehicles, ground systems, and support equipment sufficient to plan, design, test, troubleshoot, evaluate, and oversee the development and/or sustainment of electronic systems or devices. Knowledge of systems engineering practices and procedures as they pertain to sustainment, modification, logistics, and production management principles, concepts, policies, and systems; of standard acquisition regulations, practices, and procedures; and of other engineering disciplines. Ability to devise and evaluate criteria, parameters, characteristics, and interrelationships for design approaches, and to assess the impact of new technology on current systems and processes. Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy, both orally and in writing, as well as work in a professional manner with peers, management, contractors, academia, and other agencies.
