Duties

These positions serve as a Budget Student Trainee for the Bureau of Land Management. Provides routine information about budget procedures. Performs simple and routine tracking of budget transactions. Enters routine budget data and information into database systems. Prepares routine reports on account balances, status of funds or other management data as required. Uses standard and routine formulas to calculate and/or verify budget calculations.

  • Direct Deposit Required.
  • Appointment will be subject to a favorably adjudicated background/suitability investigation/determination.

  • The entire period served as a Career/Indefinite Intern counts as the appointee's trial period. Prior Federal civilian service is credited toward the completion of the required trial period in the same manner as prescribed in 5 CFR 315.802.

Qualifications

To be eligible, an applicant must: Be at least 16 years of age or older Must be a current student pursuing a degree or certificate in a qualifying educational institution with an overall GPA of 2.5 or higher AND Maintain at least a half time or full time course load at the time of appointment and throughout the Pathways internship. In order to assess you meet a qualified status for this position and to refer you to the hiring manager, the agency must be able to determine that you meet the qualifications based on completed education. To qualify at the GS-03 level you must meet the following: Education: To qualify based on education you must have completed one (1) academic year (30 semester hours) of post high-school study leading to a bachelor's degree. CONVERSION ELIGIBILITY: Interns may be converted, without a break in service, to a term, career or career conditional appointment upon completion of program requirements. To be eligible for conversion, Interns must: Be a U.S. Citizen Complete at least 640 hours of work experience acquired through the Internship Program Complete their degree or certificate requirements Meet the qualification standards for the position to which the Intern will be converted Meet agency-specific requirements as specified in the Participant's Agreement Perform their job successfully CAUTION FOR STUDENTS IN THEIR FINAL YEAR: Students that are graduating and are not subsequently enrolled in another program might not meet the work-hour requirements prior to graduation and will be at risk for not being able to convert to a career or career-conditional appointment. Academic Year: At the undergraduate level, 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours is comparable to 1 year of undergraduate education. Four years of progressive study or 120 semester hours meets the degree requirements. At the graduate level, 18 semester hours or 27 quarter hours. You must meet all eligibility and qualification requirements by the closing date of the announcement. Physical Demands: The work is primarily sedentary. Work Environment: The work is normally performed in an office setting.
