You will serve as a Lead Firefighter (BLS/HAZMAT Ops) in the Federal Fire Department of NAVAL AIR STATION FALLON.
Duties
You will respond to medical emergencies (e.g., sudden illness, accidental injuries, childbirth) to provide immediate medical attention and treatment.
You will lead a crew of three or more firefighters assigned to staff a pumper, aerial ladder truck, or rescue vehicle in firefighting and rescue operations.
You will direct the deployment and use of firefighting equipment and personnel on the scene of emergencies.
You will establish initial on-scene control during hazardous materials incidents.
You will assign work to junior firefighters or employees based on priorities, requirements, and capabilities.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
- This position requires the employee to work under adverse environmental conditions and falls under the respiratory protection program and hearing conservation program.
- This position requires the ability to discern colors, contrast, and depth.
- You will be required to use all safety equipment and clothing provided by management.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Leads firefighters in firefighting and rescue operations; 2) Directs and participates in practice drills and/or training practice for assigned crew in all phases of firefighting techniques and equipment maintenance and use; 3) Inspects, tests and/or corrects deficiencies on fire protection systems; 4) Performs basic life support and non-invasive emergency procedures to stabilize patients. NOTE: This experience must be supported by your resume to be considered for this position.
This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications for the GS-8: Firefighter II, Airport Firefighter, Driver-Operator Pumper, Driver/Operator Airport Rescue Firefighting (ARFF), Driver/Operator for Aerial Vehicles, HAZMAT Operations, Fire Officer I, Fire Inspector I, Fire Instructor I, and National Registry Emergency Medical Technician-Basic Life Support (NREMT-B).These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC or Pro Board to meet the requirement. If you do not possess all of the above certifications and you have not attached copies of your certifications, you will be rated ineligible.
