This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: Fort Drum, the home of the 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), is located in Northern New York.
Duties
Coordinates civilian and military family advocacy resources.
Provides supervision and oversight of the New Parent Support Program and the family advocacy program.
Develops and conducts and/or supervises the conduct of a wide variety of psycho-educational training programs.
Assigns work to subordinates based on priorities.
Develops installation procedures that outline responsibilities for the execution of the FAP.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires a Secret security clearance.
- This position requires childcare background checks due to being an position that has regular contact with children.
- This position is designated as mission essential.
- A one-year supervisory probationary period is required.
- Temporary Duty or business travel is required 5% of the time.
- This position requires non-standard duty hours such as overtime, weekends, or on-call status.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Basic Requirement for Supervisory Social Worker:
Degree: Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Creating educational resources for the public and/or staff regarding topics such as: parenting, stress and conflict management, couples communication/relationship enhancement, child safety, developing personal responsibility, building self-esteem, domestic violence and/or child abuse and neglect. 2) Developing family advocacy classes covering topics such as: parenting, stress and conflict management, couples communication/relationship enhancement, child safety, developing personal responsibility, building self-esteem, domestic violence and/or child abuse and neglect. 3) Teaching family advocacy classes to personnel covering topics such as: parenting, stress and conflict management, couples communication/relationship enhancement, child safety, developing personal responsibility, building self-esteem, domestic violence and/or child abuse and neglect. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
Education
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
