About the Position: The U.S. Military Entrance Processing Command, headquartered in North Chicago, IL, is a jointly staffed command, staffed by representatives of all branches of the Armed Forces. The command, through its 65 military processing locations (Military Entrance Processing Stations (MEPS)/Remote Processing Stations (RPS)), determines whether applicants are qualified for enlistment based on standards set by each of the services.
This position will be filled on a permanent basis.
Duties
Serve as liaison for military personnel matters.
Make recommendations for improvements in assigned program areas.
Assist in the review and oversight of a large variety of administrative functions for the Command Group.
Implement qualify control for assigned administrative functions.
Monitor military evaluations and award submissions.
Review staff action packages for completeness and adequacy.
Provide advice to management on administrative issues.
Prepare administrative reports for management.
Supervise civilian and military personnel within the Sector.

Specialized Experience Required: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must clearly describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, including: Providing advisory services to management on civilian and military personnel matters; Assisting in reviewing issues/problems with administrative functions and recommending solutions; Assisting in developing policies for an organization's administrative functions; Coordinating with civilian and/or military Human Resources Offices on matters pertaining to personnel management. Preparing personnel awards actions (military and/or civilian) for approval; Analyzing civilian manpower resources and recommending changes or modifications to the personnel structure. The definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09)
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you may qualify if your education meets the definitions below:
Education Substitution for Specialized Experience for GS-11: Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position such as Business, Human Resources, Management. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
Combination of Experience and Education Substitution for Specialized Experience for GS-11: If you have some, but not all, of the experience or education described above, you may still qualify by combining the amount of creditable experience and education that you possess. To compute the percentage divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education in excess of 36 hours (total semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100% to qualify. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
