Duties

A Fire Logistics Dispatcher (GS-03) provides a wide range of fire dispatch support functions. Works closely with supervisor to input resource orders and enter data. Communicates calmly and clearly with others. Interacts with and relays information to team members.

Requirements

  • Appointment will be subject to a favorably adjudicated background/suitability investigation/determination.

  • This position may require regular and recurring overtime and shift work.
  • This position may require you to wear an officially-approved uniform while in a duty status.

  • May require a one year probationary period.
  • Applicant(s) tentatively selected for this position will be required to submit a urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use and to pass the test prior to appointment. In addition, this position is subject to random testing for illegal drug use.
  • This position is a bargaining unit position represented by the National Treasury Employees Union Chapter 340.
  • You must be 18 years of age or older at the time of appointment.

Qualifications

To qualify for a GS-03 You must meet at least one of the following: 1). Six months of general experience, which can be any work experience. -OR- 2). At least one year of education above the high school level (30 semester or 45 quarter credit hours in an accredited business, secretarial, or technical school, junior college, college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school). -OR- 3). An equivalent combination of education and experience specified above. In order to be rated as qualified for this position, we must be able to determine that you meet the qualification requirements - please be sure to include this information in your resume. No assumptions will be made about your experience. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of the announcement. Physical Demands: The work involves long hours of sitting, intense concentration, and working at peak proficiency/intensity levels with irregular breaks and mealtimes. Must be able to cope with the pressure of meeting timeframes and changing priorities, Mental concentration and accuracy are required. Vehicle and aircraft travel associated with field visits and other administrative travel may be required. Work Environment: Work is preformed primarily in an office setting. During peak activity, increased radio traffic, numerous ringing phones, and conversations result in high noise levels, which require a high level of concentration to perform duties. The duties of this position create a highly stressful environment during peak activity, requiring the ability to keep calm in emergency situations.
