This is a temporary promotion/detail opportunity Not to Exceed 120 days. This detail/temporary promotion may be extended in 120 day increments up to one year with no further competition.

Duties
The General Maintenance Supervisor is assigned to the Atlanta VAMC located in Decatur, GA., and serves as the Construction Project Team Supervisor for the Chief, Engineering Service. Incumbent provides support to the engineers/technicians and supervisors in Maintenance and Engineering Operations and Biomedical Engineering sections. Major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Provides leadership, offers advice and counsel employees on technical work and administrative matters.
Plans and supervises work to be accomplished by assigned employees.
Determines and adjust priorities.
Monitors, reviews, and evaluate work.
Instructs subordinates in work techniques, processes, and procedures.
Review job descriptions, submitting updates/action for change.
Identifies developmental and training needs.
Ensure subordinates performs assigned tasks efficiently and effectively.
Reviews personnel actions and performs employment appraisals.
Prepares current and out-years budget and funding projections for supply and equipment needs.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm

EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements: The incumbent is consistently subjected to mental stresses from analyzing equipment malfunctions and maintenance problems and arriving at proper and effective solutions to such problems. He/she must concentrate continually on working out efficient work schedules and is exposed to ever-present pressures on meeting deadlines. He/she is required to continually and regularly go into out-of-the-way places on the station including manholes, attics, basements requiring walking, kneeling, stooping, crawling, and climbing ladders.
Working Conditions: At times he/she is exposed to any and all of the working conditions of the various trades supervised. However, most of his/her work will be performed under office environmental conditions. He/she is courteous and helpful to all persons he meets or with whom he comes into contact including patients, employees, and visitors.
