This position is located at the Anadarko Indian Health Clinic in Anadarko, Oklahoma. Incumbent provides supervision to any subordinates and provides direct and comprehensive primary, preventive, and therapeutic medical and optometric care to individuals. This position reports to the Clinical Director of the Lawton Indian Hospital. Due to Ceiling Restrictions, Position is for Full Time Permanent Lawton Indian Hospital Employees Only.

Duties

Diagnosis, treats and manages eye conditions and diseases within the scope of the incumbent's clinical privileges. Provides direct care to patients in a responsible, respectful and caring manner. Conducts and analyzes procedures that include the following: refraction, contact lenses or corrective lenses evaluation/prescribing, automated visual fields, etc. Provides and coordinates emergency eye care services including diagnosis and management of trauma and acute pathologies with other health care providers. Incumbent provides administrative and technical supervision and identified challenges, prioritizes efforts and develops expectations for the program. Responsible for day to day supervision and direction of optometry staff.

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Education Applicants must have a Doctor of Optometry degree from an educational program that is accredited by the Accreditation Council on Optometric Education (ACOE) at the time the degree was obtained. Licensure Applicants must have received a passing score on the National Board of Examiners in Optometry (NBEO)examinations and possess a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice optometry in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. Basic Requirements for GS-12 (or equivalent) Grade Level In addition to the requirements for the GS-11 (or equivalent) level, applicants must meet one of the following requirements: One year completion of a residency program in an institution accredited for such training; or One year of professional experience as an optometrist that is equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level. In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: GS-13 - Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: diagnosing, managing, and treating conditions and diseases of the human eye and visual system such as examining eyes, diagnosing problems or impairments, prescribing corrective lenses, and prescribing therapeutic drugs to treat specific eye conditions. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
