THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. NEW MEXICO ARMY NATIONAL GUARD *You must be a member of the New Mexico Army National Guard to be eligible for this position This National Guard position is for a MAINTENANCE TEST PILOT, Position Description Number D2459000 and is part of the NM Army Aviation Support Facility, National Guard.

Duties

This position is located in the Aircraft Maintenance Shop of an Army Aviation Support Facility (AASF)of the ARNG. Serves as a full performance Maintenance Test Pilot for multi-engine helicopter on one or more of the following rotary wing aircraft: Attack Helicopter, AH-64; Cargo Helicopter, CH-47;Utility Helicopter, UH-60. Provides technical advice on associated maintenance functions and recommends test flight plans, policies and procedures. Performs maintenance test flights of rotary wing aircraft to determine that the airframe, powerplant and power train, subsystems accessories, and other auxiliary equipment are functioning in accordance with current US Army publications, policies and predetermined requirements in the intended operational environment for the purpose of certifying the airworthiness of the complete aircraft. Conducts final test flights prior to the release of the aircraft for operational use after modification or repairs to include component changes such as by the Aviation maintenance activity. Tests avionics modification and equipment packages for in-flight reliability, proper operation and accuracy for use in critical or actual instrument conditions to complete approaches to a safe landing. Monitors quality control function to include weight and balance, time before component removalfor overhaul (TBO), regulations, Safety of Flight (SOF), Maintenance Information Messages (MIMS),Aviation Safety Action Messages (ASAMS)and DA 2408 series forms for compliance. Compiles reports on the suitability, functions, and general practicability of aircraft and components or systems. Coordinates all airworthiness documentation and administrative requirements within and outside the organization. Maintains test flight records and report, in accordance with current directives, publications and flight procedures manuals. Certifies and releases aircraft for flight when they meet US Army airworthiness standards. Performs ferry flights of aircraft to support installation maintenance activities or fortransfer/turn-in purposes. Recovers aircraft from remote sites after precautionary or forced landings have been accomplished. ACN AND IVHMS DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED.
  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.

Qualifications

Military Grades: Warrant Officer (CW3 and below) Compatible Military Assignments: 153 GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must be a graduate of the US Army UH-60L OR UH-60M Qualification Course. (Maintenance Test Pilot qualification is preferred) SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess experience andknowledge of the make-up, interrelationships, and installation of a variety of rotary wing aircraft systems, assemblies, structures and surfaces. Must have a thorough knowledge of all phases of quality assurance procedures and technical inspections on aircraft and aircraft components. Knowledge of technical manuals, technical bulletins, aviation and Army regulations, procedures and methods governing aviation maintenance, requisition, receipt, storage, handling, shipment, preservation, packaging and inspection of materiel; Hazardous Material, Physical Security, Safety Programs. Knowledge of established techniques, regulations, requirements and procedures related to the operation of an Aviation Maintenance Activity. Skill and knowledge to identify problem areas, to recommend corrective action, to provide technical data as required, and to develop reports on quality level achieved.. Knowledge of maintenance related safety practices, procedures and OSHA requirements.. Skill in applying DOD and Army regulations, pamphlets, standing operating procedures (SOPs), letters of instruction, scopes of work, policy statements and other guidelines.

Education

Must be a graduate of the US Army UH-60L OR UH-60M Qualification course.
