About the Position: This position is located with the Director for Clinical Support, Occupational Health Clinic. Hours of work are Mon-Fri, 0700-1500. Incumbent will have their own office.

Duties
Provide and oversee nursing care to eligible adult beneficiaries requiring occupational health services.
Support Occupational Safety and Health Program goals and objectives of ensuring a safe and healthful work environment for all DoD workers.
Work independently to provide quality patient care in collaboration with physicians, industrial hygienists, safety specialists, and management.
Serve as a technical expert in occupational health (OH) for health promotion, occupational injury, and illness prevention.
Provide expert direction, advice, and consultative assistance to OH nurses and senior personnel concerning health conservation requirements, OH services, and related matters.
Provide oversight of planning, coordinating, and conducting occupational health program reviews and consultation visits.
Plan and oversee special studies and projects to resolve complex OH problems and/or improve OH nursing services.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent to have tuberculosis testing.
- One year trial/probationary period may be required.
- This position has mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
- This position requires the incumbent to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
- This position may require the incumbent to complete a one year supervisory probationary period.
- Immunization screening may be required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.

Basic Requirement for Supervisory Nurse (Occupational Health):
Degree: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.).
Licensure: A current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States; and you must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination.
Foreign Degree: A degree from a Foreign Nursing School. Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.
Exemption: You are exempt from the basic requirements above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0610 occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupational series since September 27, 2017 or before. Applicants claiming this exemption must meet the requirement below. Note: You will be required to provide appropriate documentation to the respective Human Resources Office to validate your status.
Degree or diploma from a professional nursing program approved by the legally designated State accrediting agency at the time the program was completed by the applicant.
Active, current registration as a professional nurse in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Professional Nursing Experience: One or more full years of professional nursing experience which includes providing technical expertise and consultation regarding Occupational Health (OH) nursing administration evaluation and National OH standards; participating in special studies and/or projects to improve OH nursing services (health education and wellness, researching trends and patterns for development of new methods and criteria); participating in the formulation and establishment of policy and objectives that ensure OH services provided are within appropriate legal and regulatory requirements. This definition of professional nursing experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Education
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
