The incumbent of this position is an Electronic Industrial Controls Mechanic in the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Section of Facilities Management Service (FMS). It performs above the journeyman level work in the maintenance, repair, programming, and operation of air conditioning, DDC controls, ventilation, and refrigeration equipment located at this Medical center. These systems are vital in the treatment, comfort and safety of the patients and staff of the Medical Center.

Duties

Duties and Responsibilities: Works on highly complex systems of electronic sensing and control. Installs, maintains, repairs, programs and operates the campus wide Building Automation System (BAS),Solely responsible for the entire integrated BAS network. Responsible for programming, integration of components, interfacing, security, troubleshooting, and updating. Knowledge of logic circuits, of electronic amplification, and control circuits, and of complex electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and/or pneumatic systems. Must be well grounded in the environmental control processes to be accomplished by the equipment on which they work in order to properly test and coordinate the various positions of the system. Observes and interprets data generated by the Medical Center's BAS and adjusts and repairs equipment to ensure optimum efficiency and maximize energy usage Understand and utilize environmental monitoring and-control systems that use special purpose, dedicated computers to store operating parameters and initiate adjustments. Have general knowledge of HVAC and refrigeration equipment and processes such as heating, cooling, humidification, dehumidification, steam, hot water, chilled water, filtration, etc. Supports the HVAC shop and shall assist in maintenance and repairs within the Air Conditioning section. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 3:00PM - 11:30PM. Position Description Title/PD#: Electronic Industrial Controls Mechanic/PD038430 Physical Requirements: The incumbent must be able to stand for long periods of time, work in confined or awkward/cramped spaces, able to adapt to heat, cold and dampness. Employee must be able to lift a minimum of fifty pounds as he/she will be required to frequently carry and set up parts and equipment up to the fifty pounds. Duties actively involve climbing, pulling, kneeling, bending, and walking for prolong periods. Employee works inside; outside and is exposed to possible cuts, bruises, electric shock, and burns. Working Conditions: The incumbent may be subjected to adverse conditions such as heat, cold, noise moisture, electrical or health hazards associated with a health care facility. Incumbent is required to work occasionally outside on top of tall buildings, in drafty small spaces.

Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.
