What General Information Do I Need To Know About This Position? The government-wide direct hire authority for STEM Data Scientist, 1560 is being used to fill this position. Salary: $82,830 (Step 01) to $107,680 (Step 10); NOTE: First time hires to the Federal Government are typically hired at the Step 01. There is one vacancy to be filled; however, this announcement may be used to fill additional position if they become available.

BASIC EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: Applicants must meet the following to satisfy the basic education requirement for Data Scientist, all grade levels. Degree: Mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position. OR Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown in paragraph 1 above, plus additional education or appropriate experience. FOR GS-12: In addition to the Basic Education Requirement as described above, applicants must meet the following to qualify for the GS-12 level: One year of appropriate professional experience that is in or directly related to the duties of the position to be filled is qualifying if it is equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service, and if it equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. Examples of specialized experience include the following: developing mathematical, and/or statistical models for evaluation, identification, collection, and analysis of all data used to support assigned projects or program(s). You must meet all qualification and eligibility requirements for the position by the closing date of the announcement.
