This position directly supports the Special Activities and Law Enforcement Support Division, AXE-300, providing technical assistance in response to both classified requests to FAA from U.S. Federal, State and local agencies in support of sensitive national, defense, intelligence community and sensitive law enforcement.
Duties
The Aviaton Safety Inspector (Operations) reports to the Manager, Special Activities Support Branch and serves as a principal inspector within assigned area of expertise responsible for assuring that assigned organizations meed Federal Aviaton Regulations. As an authoritative technical expert, he/she provides assistance to U.S. Federal, state, and local agencies, as assigned in coordination with the Special Activities and Law Enforcement Division, AXE, 300. The incumbent is an authoritative technical expert, responsible for providing assistance to Federal, State, and local agencies in support of sensitive law enforcement operations. The assistance provided by the incumbent is vital to the enforcement U.S. Laws and achievement of national security policy and objectives. The incumbent is responsible for the initial and ongoing certification of assigned organization and performs the necessary tasks related to such. Assures that assigned organizations (1) are properly and adequately organized, staffed and equipped; (2) have and conduct adequate training, including an acceptable record-keeping system; and (3) have facilities and procedures that meet all regulatory requirements.

- Designated or Random Drug Testing required.
- Security Requirement: Special Sensitive (4). This position requires a Top Secret/SCI completion and favorable adjudication of a background investigation prior to appointment, unless a waiver is obtained. Subject to a 5 year period reinvestigation.

Certificate and Ratings:This position requires rating(s) and/or certificate(s) for minimum qualification in one of the following specialties: General Aviation Operations,/Air Carrier Operations, A copy of the rating(s) and/or certificate(s) are required for all candidates newly appointed to the FAA for a given 1825 Series specialty.Applicants must submit rating(s) and/or certificate(s) unless they are currently occupying (or previously held) a position in one of the above mentioned 1825 Series specialties.To qualify for this position you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the FV-I, FG/GS-13 level.
