The Smithsonian Institution (SI) is the world’s largest museum, education, and research complex, with 21 museums and the National Zoo. This position is in the Network Services Division (NSD), Office of Information Technology Operations (OITO), Office of Chief Information Officer (OCIO). The Office of the Chief Information Officer is responsible for Smithsonian's financial, contracting, and human resources information technology needs.
Duties
The incumbent will serve as a Senior Network Engineer working in the Network Services Division which operates, supports and manages SI's data and voice communications networks and services.

Qualifications
GS-13 Experience: You qualify for this position if you have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal Service or comparable pay band system. For this position Specialized experience is defined as experience supporting network operations, rapid resolution and remediation of network, network troubleshooting, infrastructure needs such as cable/fiber, electrical, and HVAC; project management experience including but not limited to developing project plans, resource requirements, schedules, and statement of work (SOW).
In addition to meeting the Specialized Experience for all positions individuals must have IT related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below:

Handles technical, sensitive, or controversial topics with agility involving executives/managers as appropriate.
Problem Solving: Identifies and analyzes problems, weighs relevance and accuracy of information, generates and evaluates alternative solutions, and makes sound recommendations.
