This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the Department of Defense (DoD) Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This Maintenance Control Specialist GS-1601-09 position is with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Southwestern Division, Fort Worth District, Operations Division located in the following duty stations; Benbrook, Grapevine, and Lewisville, TX.

Duties

Organize, compiles all pertinent information, assures accuracy, and enters data and updates for each piece of equipment into the maintenance system. Utilize the control system to issue and schedule routine and cyclic maintenance, repair and replacement of all equipment, machinery, etc. Ensure accuracy of accounting data and status changes on all Work Orders for work to be performed. Provide guidance and training to supervisors and key staff on the more complicated features of the system to enable them to search for additional information and update records. Assist with technical support on the automated maintenance system hardware and software functions, and access problems. Submit and track program change requests and disseminates information to users as to status.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one- year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • Temporary Duty (TDY) Travel is required up to 25% of the time.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid civilian driver's license.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. To be qualified for the Maintenance Control Specialist you must meet one of the following requirements: Specialized Experience:One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Assisting with equipment and preventive maintenance data collection and technical support; AND 2) Preparing records and reports in an automated maintenance control data system. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
