Duties

You will monitor the overall security administration program for Commanding General, Marine Corps Recruit Depot and Eastern Recruiting Region (MCRD/ERR). You will determine the suitability and security eligibility for individuals with regard to access to sensitive and non-sensitive positions. You will conduct local files check to determine the existence or absence of unfavorable information and obtains interim security clearances or recertifies security clearance information granted by other government organizations. You will conduct annual physical security surveys in conjunction with the Provost Marshal's Office in order to ensure multiple facilities are certified to hold sensitive or classified material. You will ensure all regulations with regard to information security are followed in order to prevent unauthorized disclosure of sensitive or classified information. You will advise the command and drafts policy for the Industrial Security Program, to include DOD Contractor screening and the DOD Contractor Security program.

Requirements

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or Top Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Developing and implementing policies to determine suitability and security eligibility of individuals and maintaining through regulations to maintain classified information. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

Education

In lieu of specialized experience, applicants can qualify through education substitution. To qualify through education substitution applicant must possess:

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree

or

3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
