About the Position: Plan and establish the work schedules of trade technicians performing a variety of facility maintenance tasks based on work order priority and mission requirements of the installation. Also responsible for administrative support to include payroll, evaluations, counseling, and work/purchase orders.

Duties

Supervise workers directly or through subordinate leaders in accomplishing the work of an organizational segment or group. Coordinate work with supporting or related work functions controls directed by customer groups or other supervisors. Determine manpower, equipment, supplies, and maintenance required to close out work order timely. Establish a good working climate to encourage employees to participate in achieving management goals, and to promote efficient and economical work operations. Review and analyze production, cost, and personnel utilization records to evaluate progress of work, and control or reduce costs. Plan and establish an overall leave schedule; determine training needs of subordinates and arrange for its accomplishment; sets performance standards, counsel employees on performance, and makes formal and informal appraisals. Review job descriptions for currency and accuracy and makes necessary changes; report detailing of employees to jobs other than their own. Interview candidates for vacancies and recommend selections. Counsel employees on problems and adjusts informal complaints through discussions with employees and union representatives.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position is subject to an initial drug screening, and random testing thereafter. A negative drug test result must be received by human resources within 30 calendar days after the Entrance on Duty (i.e., start date).

  • This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for the position. Criminal history background check required.
  • Position requires a Secret Security Clearance.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • In accordance with AR 690-11, this position has been designated as "Emergency-Essential". Emergency-Essential designation takes precedence over any transportation agreement or military recall status.
  • In the event of a crisis situation or wartime, you must continue to perform the duties and requirements of the position to ensure the success of combat operations and support combat essential systems subsequent to mobilization or evacuation order.

Employee may be required to stand for extended periods while operating shop equipment. Work also requires considerable bending, kneeling, and stooping. Strenuous physical exertion is sometimes required when handling heavy and bulky building and construction materials. Employee is required to use manual or portable power tools for extended periods in uncomfortable positions. On-site work typically requires bending, stooping, crawling, and climbing on ladders, scaffolding, and rooftops. Employee may lift and move materials up to 50 pounds unassisted and occasionally lift or move heavier items with the assistance of lifting devices or other workers. Working Conditions Some work is performed in shop areas where the employee is exposed to moderate or high noise levels from operating machinery, dust and fumes, and the hazards associated with working with power equipment. At job sites, the employee may be exposed to weather conditions and the hazards of working on and around scaffolds and ladders. The employee is subject to cuts, bruises, and contusions. The employee may work in confined areas that may be dusty and dirty. The use of protective devices such as earplugs, safety glasses, respirators, and gloves is required.
