The position is located in the Bureau of Global Health Security and Diplomacy (GHSD), Office of Health Diplomacy and Capacity Development (HDCD). GHSD leads U.S. diplomatic engagement and supports programmatic efficiency to strengthen the global health security architecture and prevent, detect, control, and respond to infectious diseases, including HIV/AIDS.
Duties
Provides expert advice and guidance and works closely with senior management in planning and developing active outreach programs.
Plans and coordinates programs and projects to respond to and address emerging issues in the region.
Serves as the representative on interagency working groups related to specific issues relevant to U.S. foreign policy to ensure U.S. missions have the tools needed to engage in health diplomacy.
Serves as coordinator for projects as assigned by senior GHSD/HDCD leadership, including, but not limited to identifying, assessing, and implementing health diplomacy and diplomatic workforce health training opportunities.

Qualifications
Applicants must meet all the required qualification requirements described below by the closing date of this announcement.
NOTE: Applicants must meet time-in-grade and time after competitive appointment requirements, by the closing date of this announcement.
Time-In-Grade Requirements: Federal applicants must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade to satisfy time-in-grade restrictions, per 5CFR 300, Subpart F.
Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position.
Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience planning and developing outreach programs.
Experience analyzing U.S. foreign policy related to health diplomacy.
Experience implementing health diplomacy and diplomatic health training opportunities.
There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-13 position.
